Boturo Wellness Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 9, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Boturo ("we", "our", "us") handles information when you use the Boturo Wellness app.
Boturo Wellness is an offline-first app for hydration reminders, routine support, mood, energy, sleep notes, habit streaks, manual wellness logging, and manual medicine or supplement reminders. Core reminders and logs work on your device. Optional features, such as Google sign-in and Apple Health or Google Health Connect integration, use the permissions and services described below.
Boturo Wellness does not use BLE pairing, smart-device sync, firmware updates, nearby-device scanning, caregiver sync, or connected hardware features in this app.
Boturo Wellness is intended for adult users only. Before accessing the app, users must confirm that they are at least 18 years old. If a user indicates they are under 18, access to the app is not allowed.
Boturo Wellness keeps your logs, notes, preferences, and reminder schedules on your device. Notifications, exact alarms, and run-at-startup access are used only to deliver and restore local reminders you configure. If you connect Apple Health or Google Health Connect, the app reads and writes only the health categories you approve. If you sign in with Google, Firebase Authentication and Google Sign-In are used only for identity.
1. Information We Collect
Information you enter
The app may store the information you choose to enter, such as:
- Hydration logs
- Reminder schedules
- Mood, energy, and sleep notes
- Habit streaks and goal preferences
- Manual medicine or supplement reminders
- Local profile details such as first name, age range, height, weight, and goal preferences
The app may also ask for your age during the initial age gate so it can confirm that the app is only used by adults.
Optional Google sign-in information
If you choose to sign in with Google, the app uses Firebase Authentication to identify your account. The app may receive basic account information such as your Firebase user ID, name, email address, and profile display name. Boturo Wellness does not send your Firebase ID token to a Boturo backend for this app.
Optional Apple Health and Google Health Connect information
If you choose to connect Apple Health or Google Health Connect, the app asks for only the health categories needed for hydration and goal personalization:
- Hydration or water intake: read approved entries and write water intake you log in Boturo.
- Height and weight: read approved values to help personalize your hydration goal.
- Steps: read recent approved step data to estimate activity level.
- Biological sex and date of birth, where available: read approved values to personalize profile and goal calculations.
The app does not use health data for advertising, tracking, analytics enrichment, data resale, model training, or unrelated features. Health-provider-sourced hydration rows are stripped from exported backup files.
Device information
We do not collect device identifiers for advertising or tracking. If you enable local notifications, the operating system may provide the app with limited technical information needed to schedule and deliver those reminders.
App permissions
The app requests only reminder-related permissions:
- Notifications, to deliver reminder alerts you set.
- Exact alarms / alarms and reminders on Android, to deliver scheduled reminders at the time you selected.
- Run at startup on Android, to restore scheduled reminders after your phone restarts.
- Internet, to support optional Google sign-in and links you choose to open.
- Apple Health or Google Health Connect, only when you choose to connect health integration.
The app does not request Bluetooth, Nearby Devices, location, camera, photo library, or calendar permissions.
2. How We Use Information
We use information only to:
- Show and save your wellness logs and reminders.
- Schedule local notification reminders.
- Keep your preferences and history available on your device.
- Personalize hydration goals when you provide profile data or connect health data.
- Let you sign in with Google if you choose to use identity features.
- Improve app reliability through local error handling and diagnostics.
We do not use your data for advertising, resale, or cross-app tracking.
3. Where Data Is Stored
- On your device: your logs, notes, reminder settings, local profile details, and app preferences are stored locally.
- In system notification services: only the reminder schedule needed by your device's operating system to deliver local alerts.
- In Apple Health or Google Health Connect: only the health data you approve and the water intake you choose to write from Boturo.
- In Firebase Authentication and Google Sign-In: only if you choose to sign in with Google.
We do not maintain a Boturo cloud backup or connected-device server profile for this app.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data.
We do not share your wellness data with advertisers, data brokers, or connected-device services.
If you connect Apple Health or Google Health Connect, data exchange happens through the health platform permissions you approve and can revoke at any time.
If you sign in with Google, Google and Firebase Authentication process your sign-in according to their own policies.
If you choose to export or share your own data from the app, that action is initiated by you.
5. Data Retention
Your local data remains on your device until you delete it, clear the app data, or uninstall the app.
If you revoke a permission, the app stops using that permission for future actions, but it does not automatically delete information you already saved locally.
If you disconnect health integration, existing local logs remain in Boturo unless you delete them. You can separately manage health data in Apple Health or Google Health Connect.
6. Children's Privacy
Boturo Wellness is not directed to children. The app is intended for adults only and is not available to users who indicate they are under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
7. Your Choices
You can:
- Turn reminder notifications on or off in app settings or your device settings.
- Delete your local wellness data by clearing the app data or uninstalling the app.
- Revoke optional permissions at any time in your device settings.
- Disconnect Apple Health or Google Health Connect from the app.
- Sign out of Google sign-in from inside the app.
8. Security
We rely on the security protections built into your device and operating system. Where the app stores sensitive information locally, we use platform-appropriate secure storage and encryption where available.
No method of storage is perfectly secure, but the app is designed to keep your wellness data on-device unless you choose optional sign-in or health integration.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision.
